Since this year it falls on a Thursday, it’s the perfect opportunity to extend the weekend and enjoy a mini vacation. In Istria, things are pretty simple – most events revolve around socializing outdoors with food, drinks, and music. If you ask us, that’s quite fitting for Labor Day. Here’s what you can expect:

Labor Day Picnic in Karpinjan (May 1)

Location: Karpinjan beach

Description: The May Day picnic kicks off at 11 AM with a recreational walk and bike ride, followed by a special food offer at promotional prices starting at 1 PM, accompanied by live music. Come, enjoy, and spend the day in good company!

Fisherman Festival, Vrsar (May 2)

Location: Vrsar waterfront

Description: A traditional fisherman festival where you can taste numerous fish dishes, the most popular of which is brudet.

Folk Festival, Poreč (May 1)

Location: Town Beach

Description: A traditional Labor Day festival that features barbecue, drinks, good company, music, and the popular trešeta and briškula tournament.

Labor Day, Šišan (May 1)

Location: Monte Madonna hill

Description: On the hill of Monte Madonna above Šišan there will be fun for both kids and adults. The agenda includes face painting and bouncy castles for children, a guided tour of the fortress and, of course, free servings of beans. To spice up the atmosphere, there will be music.

Feel the breeze of Rovinj, Rovinj (May 2)

Location: Old Town Rovinj

Description: Free sightseeing tour* with a local guide and a visit to the most important sights of the town of Rovinj. On the way, you will be greeted by musicians who will perform traditional Rovinj songs, and at the end of the tour, you can enjoy tastings in a local tavern.

Labor Day on the islands will be marked by food, concerts, and outdoor activities:

Guided walking tour, Krk Island (May 2)

Location: Krk – Kornić – Muraj – Lakmartin – Krk

Description: A four-hour guided walking tour around the outskirts of the town of Krk. Technically easy, but moderately challenging in terms of endurance. You will need sports equipment, sunscreen, and sunglasses. And if you need extra motivation, there will be tastings at a local cheese dairy at the end of the tour.

Art & Wine painting workshop, Krk Island (May 3)

Location: Krk Town Hall

Description: A free workshop designed for art lovers. And wine lovers. If you don’t know how to paint, don’t worry. No experience is necessary, and by some miracle you will leave with a work of art in your hands. Come and try it! Registration and info at: info@visitkrk.city.

Lošinj Food Festival, Lošinj Island (April 24 – May 31)

Location: Lošinj restaurants

Description: A food festival where you can taste numerous gastronomic delicacies made from local ingredients at special prices*. An ideal opportunity to treat yourself during your stay on the island.

May Festival, Pag Island (May 2 – 3)

Location: Bazilike Square, Novalja

Description: Discover the flavors of Novalja and the island of Pag and taste local specialties prepared in the traditional way with a touch of modern cuisine. Good entertainment will be provided by bands.
