Ugljan Island, a mere 20-minute ferry ride from Zadar, is a typical representative of the Dalmatian archipelago: an elongate island with most of the towns and little villages set on the eastern coast. Yet we could argue that the most amazing landscape and views are available in the western end.
The rugged coast with dense shrubbery and line of hills is perfect for hiking and mountain biking, and climbing on your non e-bike to the Saint Michael fort is quite an effort – but the view from there is well worth it. Afterwards you should treat yourselves to some amazing Dalmatian cuisine in one of the lovely taverns, scattered throughout the villages facing the mainland.
The campsite Ugljan in the west offers an amazing view of the islands Iž and Dugi otok. It’s arranged in a form of an eco-village where guests staying in very likely the most beautiful mobile homes on Ugljan Island can actually harvest the vegetable garden, growing in the center of the campsite. Mobile homes vary in size: 1 to 3 bedrooms for 3 to 8 people, all no more than 100 meters from the lovely beach. All the mobile homes have big, covered terraces so you can enjoy your meals while listening to the sound of the waves.
